"ppl see comedians as free speech advocates instead of jesters" hit the nail on the head
Comedians themselves think they're philosophers instead of jesters
That’s it I’m joining the Patreon
Brother I been following this channel since the stint you did with FD and been back and forth but seeing your growth and lay all this leftist and liberal shit out in a way I feel like speaks to me on some like internal level
Take the dollars g you earned it
You ain’t never lied
Andrew is not funny at all. Never been. Just loud.
He was most bearable when he was first introduced in guy code partially because you only got segments of him but his shtick got old quick he was too lazy or just too untalented to developed into a better comic he kinda just stood as exactly the same comic he was first introduced as just increasingly louder and arrogant
Very spot on commentary
Hard disagree on emphasizing being socially-politically conscious over being funny. 1) Be both. 2) The reason you're probably thinking this way is because of the circles you've been moving in lately. You've been podding with FD and Olay, two RUclipsrs who have highly politically engaged followers. If being funny is one of your strengths (and it is) keep putting that kind of material out there . That's how you build YOUR audience.
"that kanye shit was funny because i thought no one actually believed this shit", thats how i know you aren't around white people dom, because none of that kanye shit was novel to me. I always knew people who deadass believed that shit,
Nah frl, hell check the shaderoom comments everytime they post Kanye, a bunch of stupid niggas like “Kanye got a point that’s why yall call him crazy”
That made it funny to me because he’s still that nerdy guy from Chicago just grown up doing whatever he wants, not some true villain with power😂
Dave Chappelle started the commentary style with the The Bird Revelation, his next special is crucial, he needs to get back to just being funny
Very surprised there weren't more think pieces on how Chappelle traded in actually being funny for hopping on a soapbox.
I’m not mad. I love this channel bro. Rare.
Rare?
You know what you are bro??? The friend I enjoy arguing with bcuz they represent point I disagree with so well man. I agree with this tho for the record.
I'm over here watching Stavros Halkias and loving life
Ain't shit funny right now. Frfr
Josh Johnson and Stavros Halkias disprove this
Just watched Josh Johnson breakdown the YSL case, yeah he's just a funny reteller of events, he used to be more than that tho
I AGREE WITH HIM
I feel like no one owns comedy anymore. I feel like comedy in general is just sort of on sabbatical right now. Idk I don’t really hear about any particular specials garnering overwhelming support since Dave. The only real comedian who has made gains being openly right wing is Andrew Schultz but like nobody really talks about his actual comedy. You could also say Shane Gillis maybe? but as far as I know he himself has not made any jokes that I would say is too offensive and he kinda just loosely associates with their type, I know he’s a semi regular on Rogan I think?
Is Schulz really right wing? I've definitely seen him on a few right wing pods but I don't really see him championing right wing causes like that. In fact I've seen him push back on a few of their stances. He seems more like a centrist to me, taking issue with the worst of both sides.
I don’t feel like politics should own comedy, I thought it was for the people. Why would the people bring politics into entertainment. For message? That’s where the line gets skippy because is it entertainment or now a skill based game? I don’t engage is the human social political system so I have no idea of the left or right but it’s the same as music, make entertainment and they’ll be waiting for the next entertaining act. Start spreading messages and you’ll get an audience that waits for the next message, J-Cole’s grippy feature for example. One thing I’ve noticed is that the greatest ones are the ones able to incorporate both which we legit haven’t had due to the quick success of the digital social media platforms. No one really has to try for an audience anymore, they just try for an algorithm that’ll form the audience for them. I think that’s the sole problem with a lot of industries today.
He’s definitely right wing, he had Trump on his podcast during election season and kissed his ass the whole time. Just because he doesn’t say slurs doesn’t mean he isn’t right wing.
@@darrickfranklin7096 I see. I'll have to watch some more of his stuff. And I didn't think he wasn't right wing because he doesn't say slurs 😆 Nobody who wants to be mainstream says slurs in public settings.
I think another reason the right owns comedy is that the left shifted from socialism to identity politics . They also started censoring what you could say and people identified with right leaning comics who just wanna joke about how absurd it is . Like when they tried to cancel chapelle for the trans jokes
Spot on
Facts
Okay but for context there are left leaning comedians who do poke fun at identity politics. There is just a way that it's done where the joke and punchline is literally just not someone's identity. There is a very specific reason why Dave Chapelle got push back and it was entirely earned. He also never got cancelled, him being an open transphobe made him more popular if anythingm
@@ikkou111the same way they are right leaning comics who poke fun at the ultra right leaning ideology. You can use specifics but a large part of both sides stay on their side .
Those are right-wing talking points. The right called what their opponents did "identity politics" because arguing against normalized bigotry which is based on identities requires discussing those identities, as though passing laws to oppress people based on their identities is not identity politics. Dave Chappelle not only openly stated antitrans talking points which are used by neofascists, he spoke as though all trans people are white while comparing different groups' relative oppression: that is genuinely a tactic from COINTELPRO meant to prevent coalition among oppressed minorities, not to mention being actual identity politics, and it demonstrates the far right's war on the concept of intersectionality (e.g. Jordan Peterson, a neofascist propagandist).
Do you mean Josh Johnson?
Yes
I thought you were a Anarchist, you sound like your leaning left? The comedians that want to get ahead will do anything(that's progressive) to get ahead(for hollywood). The comedians that want to master their craft will do what they want whether you like it or not which is how we got Shane Gillis.
Anarchism is far left, with social democracy being the center. Also, Hollywood is not progressive: did you miss the CEOs' words and actions during the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023?
Do you... Do you think anarchists aren't leftists???
You don't know what anarchist is
When did Dom mention anarchism or being an anarchist?
